performer
Stephanie is an intuitive performer - trained at college, years of being on stage and in front of a class. All of her source material is discovered at the intersection of storytelling, comedy and heartbreak.
Where Do I Begin?
A poignant comedy born in the 70’s:
Stephanie’s an only child in search of her place in the world. As she struggles to fit in with friends, her father steadily becomes the person she can depend on. Through sleepovers and nosebreaks her youth disappears into the life she dreamt of in New York City but when her world crashes to a halt, she’s left wondering if this really is the end.
Stephanie Lazenby constructs a riotous one-woman memoir that brings to life seventeen characters over five decades. Weaving comic characterization and evocative dialogue Where Do I Begin? has audiences reminiscing about the moments from their childhood that mark the beginning of their becoming.

REVIEW
Portsmouth Herald “The script excels at letting a performed moment speak for itself, the characters' exchanges smooth and natural. The narration is also smartly done. But, it's those animated moments of dialogue that really energize the piece and draw you into the experience; the child and dad in the kitchen, the young Stephanie hanging on a friend's older sisters' every word, and the taut exchanges with mom.” “Lazenby has a good ear for minor details that bring a moment to life, and a way with quick entry into a character.” |
